Have some mild spoilers for Final Fantasy XII:
In the game Final Fantasy XII, the party finds themselves in the Skycity of Bhujerba, which is home to many fine alcholic beverages, a thriving underground resistance movement, and the Marquis Ondore. Two years earlier, Ondore claimed that the man accused of killing the king of the neighboring country of Dalmasca- one Captain Basch fon Ronsenburg- had been executed. But in reality, the evil empire responsible for the death of the king kept the poor shmuck alive and in prison, so they could use him to discredit Ondore if they needed to. Said poor shmuck ends up in your party, naturally, and the protagonist decides to get in touch with the local resistance by running around town, shouting seditious things at innocent bystanders. You, as the player, have to fill up your "notoriety meter" by shouting things like "Basch lives!" and "Don't believe Ondore's lies!" or "I'm Captain Basch!" and "I'm Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca!" at anyone who will listen. The protagonist, he is a genius.
The best part is, Vaan's plan works, and once your notoriety meter hits 100%, the resistance tracks you down and tells you to shut the hell up, you're making everyone suspicious.
We, as the Bhujerban Notoriety Squad, like to put on our official Notoriety Squad t-shirts at conventions, and shout these catch phrases at innocent con-goers, decrying Ondore's lies to any who will hear us. Are we, perhaps, a bit too obsessed with Final Fantasy XII? Perhaps- but let's face it, it was an awesome game. Are we taking the joke a little too far? Maybe. But we all thought that part of the game was really frickin' hilarious. Is this all a bit silly? Certainly. But that describes us all pretty well.
Yeah, okay, so who are you?We are a group of friends (and arch nemeses, in some cases) who came together through a shared love of video games, roleplaying, anime, and other geeky pursuits. A few of us began attending anime conventions together, whereupon we discovered an intense love, nay, passion, for cosplay. We went back to school to share this passion with our comrades, and thus an unbreakable bond was formed!
What is it that you do, exactly?We dress up as video game characters at anime conventions, because we're attention whores. Our cosplay is constantly improving; it is our goal to be recognized for our skills in the hall contests and masquerades at the conventions we attend. We also make jewelry out of wire and chainmaille, which we sell at conventions and Rennaissance Faire-like events. And we sew various types of garb- cloaks and dresses and the like- on commission.
Mostly, we have fun with our hobbies, and we wanted to share that with other people.
